Mike earned his bachelor’s degree from University of New Haven in 1980. After graduating he began his career at Josethal & Co., a regional investment bank. It was there that he recognized the limitations of traditional financial institutions and began exploring the possibility of establishing an independent, fee-based firm. On October 15, 1986, he teamed up with his wife, Debbie DeMatteo, to launch 10-15 Associates–the firm’s name derives from the date of its founding.
As president and CEO, Mike oversees the firm’s daily operations and works closely with clients to manage their asset preservation and income strategies. While many aspects of his day-to-day responsibilities are fulfilling, he receives the most gratification from guiding the firm’s clients through the overall financial planning process. That includes helping them identify the right attorney to assist them with their estate needs, elder planning, or consulting with their CPA on proper tax strategies.
Today, Mike strives to make 10-15 Associates the leader in investment management and financial solutions by creating lasting value and independence for his clients. He is vigilant about total transparency and always puts the needs of his clients first. 10-15 Associates has grown dramatically over the years based solely on word of mouth. Mike believes that if he takes care of his clients and their families, success–including the firm’s success–will follow.
Mike receives his inspiration from three people–Debbie, his wife of over thirty years, who he considers an amazing mother, business partner, and best friend, and his father and mother, who guided him throughout his life, and are are his models for counseling his children and clients to this day.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys golf and traveling and appreciates good food and wine. Mike likes to spend much of his free time with his wife and three children. Mike is also an avid Green Bay Packer fan and is proud to call himself a “cheesehead.” Mike supports a wide range of local charities and organizations including the Food Pantry, Coats Drive, NYS Trooper Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Jimmy V Foundation, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
