Andrew Spanos

Andrew’s passion for managing risk and investment management intensified during his college internship experience. He had the opportunity to intern on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange and observe traders in an open trading system, shouting and using hand gestures to trade commodities. He was inspired by being able to participate in the pricing of commodities that had such a huge impact on so many global businesses and investors.

Andrew graduated from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in economics in 2009. He also competed in NCAA Division I cross country and track and field for the school.

Andrew’s goal is to work to increase the performance of the portfolio while managing risk. He loves the challenge of knowing that the markets change every day and there is a fresh set of hurdles to clear. While it doesn’t necessarily get any easier, Andrew enjoys being able to build upon his previous knowledge and experience. It is also why having a mentor like Deborah Dematteo, 10-15 Associates’ chief investment officer, is so valuable. Andrew has the opportunity to learn from her vast experience and understanding of the market. Both Deborah and the market constantly challenge him to perform at a peak level. Andrew is motivated by the knowledge that he is helping clients achieve their financial goals while simultaneously experiencing professional growth.

When he’s not examining portfolios and researching investments, Andrew enjoys running, cooking, and watching the New York Yankees. Andrew’s passion for running continues as he is an active member of the New York Road Runners, where he is training for the 2017 New York marathon.

Andrew’s primary role in the organization is to work directly with the chief investment officer on the day-to-day management of the portfolio. He is responsible for gathering economic data and research for the investments in the portfolio, and he prepares weekly market and quarterly earnings reports for team members. Andrew is also actively involved in idea generation as well as model construction and implementation. Andrew is involved in executing and settling trades along with other required portfolio operational duties.
